Massage/Workout Benefits

"It all adds up to relief from muscle soreness and stiffness, better flexibility, and less chance for future injury." – Henriette Steffensen

Working out and being active is one of the healthy pleasures of life but sometimes it means putting extra stress on the body. Along with that comes the rebuilding and recovery phase which often comes with delayed muscle soreness (24 to 48 hours after exercise). This can be caused by several different factors such as microscopic tear in the muscle, muscle spasm and ischemia (lack of blood flow through a muscle) and buildup of waste products from energy production.

There is a growing awareness that a complete workout routine includes not only the workout routine itself, but also caring for the wear-and-tear and minor injuries that naturally occur with strenuous movement. This makes massage the perfect complement to a total conditioning program; it helps you get into good shape faster with less soreness and stiffness. Receiving regular massage work also helps you recover faster from heavy workouts and can help prevent injuries from occurring (for example tearing of tight muscles.) The benefits of massage include improved lymph flow and blood circulation, muscle relaxation which in turn leads to removal of waste products and better cell production, greater elasticity of tissues, deactivation of trigger points and faster recovery of injuries.
