Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
You are eating for 145 (pounds, not people)
Losing body mass means you look better in your jeans but it also means there is less of you to burn calories. The number of calories – Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) – your body needs to exist gets lower as you get smaller. If you keep eating for your old weight you will hit a wall in your weight loss!
Calculate Your BMR
- Divide your current weight by 2.2 pounds
- Multiply this number by 0.9 and then by 24 (this is your BMR)
- Multiply your BMR by 1.2 (this is the number of calories your body burns per day doing normal activities)
- Add another 300-500 on days you do an hour of moderate to intense exercise)
- Now shave off 500 to get the calories you need to lose one pound per week.
Notes!! Do not go below 1200 calories or your body will think you are starving and your metabolism will slow down to conserve energy. Eat 500 calories less or eat 250 less and burn 250 through exercise – this would be the way to go!!
